Jay Scrubb will not play college basketball for Louisville this season.
The top JuCo prospect in the country, a product of John A. Logan College, will instead turn pro regardless of where he is projected to be picked in the NBA draft, his father told 247 Sports.
Scrubb is a 6-foot-6 wing with athleticism and the ability to knock down threes. He’s likely going to be a second round pick, but he would have been tremendously valuable for a Louisville program that already is dealing with a lack of depth.
David Johnson, Samuell Williamson and Malik Williams are all expected back for the Cardinals, and the program added Carlik Jones to the mix earlier this week. Scrubb would have been a perfect fit on the wing.
The Cardinals dropped from 15th to 22nd in the NBC Sports preseason top 25 without Scrubb.
