North Carolina landed a commitment from a second five-star prospect in the Class of 2020 on Sunday night, as 6-foot-11 center Walker Kessler announced that he will be heading to Chapel Hill to play for Roy Williams.
Kessler picked the Tar Heels over Duke, Auburn and Michigan. He had taken an official visit to North Carolina over the weekend. He joins another five-star big man, Day’Ron Sharpe, in UNC’s recruiting class.
It’s an interesting fit. Kessler could have walked in to the starting lineup at any of the other three schools on his list, but at UNC, he will be joining a program that could end up having three other bigs that deserve major minutes - Sharpe, current freshman Armando Bacot and last year’s starting center Garrison Brooks.
UNC joins Duke and Kentucky as the two programs with a pair of five-star commits in the Class of 2020.
