Former Texas Tech star Andre Emmett was shot and killed on Sunday.
He was 37 years old.
According to a statement released by the Dallas police, Emmett was sitting in his car in front of his house around 2:30 a.m. when he was confronted by two men. During an altercation, one of the men pulled out a game and shot Emmett, who fled on foot. A passerby found him and called 911. Emmett died at the hospital.
According to witnesses, two men got into a white Chrysler to flee the scene.

Emmett was a second round pick in 2004 after playing for four seasons and scoring more than 2,200 points for the Red Raiders. He averaged 20.6 points and 6.6 boards as a senior, when the 6-foot-5 shooting guard was named an All-American.
“I wanted to extend our deepest sympathies to Andre’s family,” current Tech head coach Chris Beard said in a statement. Beard was an assistant at Tech when Emmett was a player. “I don’t understand why terrible things like this happen to great people like Andre, but just know that he is in all of our thoughts and our prayers.”
He spent two years in the NBA. More recently, Emmett had been playing in the Big3.
The BIG3 is in a state of shock over the sudden and tragic death of Andre Emmett. Andre was a member of the BIG3 family for two seasons and never without a smile on his face. His kindness towards others and easy-going demeanor made him a joy to be around. pic.twitter.com/QoNJ7NH2k0
