IUPUI head coach and former Arizona Wildcat Jason Gardner resigned on Tuesday afternoon after he was arrested over the weekend and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to the Indy Star.

Gardner was arrested at 5:10 a.m. in Fishers, Indiana, after he was found asleep at the wheel of his 2016 Nissan in the middle of an intersection.

Gardner had been the head coach at IUPUI since 2014. He’s an Indianapolis native that won Indiana Mr. Basketball in 1999 before heading to Arizona to play collegiately.

“We are aware of the situation regarding men’s head basketball coach Jason Gardner and are looking into the circumstances,” IUPUI said in a statement.
