Buzz Williams will be the next head coach at Texas A&M.

Virginia Tech confirmed as much on Wednesday morning, but this had been the worst kept secret in college basketball for months. Buzz is a native Texan, he is a former Texas A&M assistant and he is the perfect fit for a program that has had more success as a basketball program than some may realize. They made six straight NCAA tournaments under Billy Gillispie and Mark Turgeon from 2006-2011, and won a game in five of the six tournaments.

Billy Kennedy only made two NCAA tournaments in his eight seasons as head coach, but they had have success recently, and Williams could not be a more perfect hire to get back to those levels.

Virginia Tech was not a good basketball program when he took it over in 2014. But in five season, he built the Hokies into one of the better teams in the ACC. Virginia Tech was a top ten program when they were totally healthy this year, and it showed -- they reached a Sweet 16 and lost by two points to Duke when they got there.

I have no doubt that Williams will get A&M rolling.

The SEC got better today.
