Kansas State will be missing their best bench player for the foreseeable future.

Carter Diarra did not make the trip to Austin for Tuesday night’s game against Texas because on an injured hand. Kansas State put out a release on Tuesday afternoon that stated that Diarra will be out indefinitely, as the injury will require surgery.

This is a major blow for the Wildcats, as the 6-foot-4 sophomore has been one of their best players over the course of the last two weeks. He’s scored double-figures in his last four games while averaged 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals during that stretch. He’s also made at least two threes in each of the last four games, a critical floor spacer with gravity on a team that has been dreadful against zones because of their lack of shooters and passers.

And all of that ignores the simple fact that he is one of their best and toughest defenders.

This won’t have the same impact as losing Dean Wade did, but this will certainly have a significant impact on K-State.

As it stands, the Wildcats currently lead the Big 12 by two games in the loss column.
