An AAU basketball team featuring Bol Bol, a top five prospect in the Class of 2018, forfeited a game and walked off the court during an event in Kansas this weekend.

According to the Wichita Eagle, Midwest Flight left the gym with six minutes remaining in a game they trailed against Central Kansas Elite, 71-61. The decision was made after Midwest Flight had been whistled for their sixth technical foul of the game, and the players proceeded to remove their jerseys and shake the hands of the Central Kansas Elite players.

“We feel like it’s downright disrespectful the way the refs were treating us this week,” Midwest Flight coach Monte Harrison was quoted as saying. “This whole weekend we had referees coming up asking about (Bol) and it’s like they’re more worried about who he is then being professional and reffing the game,” Harrison said. “I know it’s exciting to see those type of players and we have some of the top kids in the country. But we didn’t bring our team down here just to be disrespected like that. We had the same thing happen to us last year.”

Bol Bol is the son of Manute Bol and, at 7-foot-3, one of the most unique prospects in high school basketball. He’s an elite shot-blocker and an elite three-point shooter, which makes him a tantalizing piece in the small-ball era.

This mess occurred just two weeks after LaVar Ball became the biggest story in sports by threatening to pull his Big Ballers team off the court for the second time in the span of a week unless a female official was removed from the game. Adidas, who was hosting the tournament Big Ballers were playing in, acquiesced to Ball’s request.
