University of Kansas police are investigating the rape of a 16-year old girl that allegedly occurred at McCarthy Hall, the on-campus dorm where the Kansas basketball team lives, according to a report from the Lawrence Journal-World.

The paper obtained a copy of the police report, which states that the alleged rape occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 17th and 5 a.m. on Dec. 18th. Kansas played Davidson in Kansas City on the 17th in a game that tipped off at 6 p.m. CT. It was a Saturday night.

The suspect, who was not named, was also charged with “contributing to a child’s misconduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.”

No information was shared about the suspect. The police did confirm that the 16-year old girl was not a student but that she did know the suspect.

Five Kansas players are listed as witnesses in the police report including Frank Mason III, Mitch Lightfoot, LaGerald Vick, Tucker Vang and Josh Jackson. A Kansas athletic department administrator and two 19-year-old women were also interviewed, according to the police report.

Kansas coach Bill Self told the Kansas City Star that some of his players, “are listed as potential witnesses to an alleged incident in McCarthy Hall.”

“From what I have learned a witness can be many things, including a person who can potentially provide information, whether an eyewitness or not, or has been present before, during or after an alleged incident,” Self said.

“All comments moving forward will come from the university or KU police department.

“If information is brought to us that warrants action at any time, the appropriate action will be taken.”

McCarthy Hall is a $12 million building on campus that is home to the Kansas basketball team as well as a handful of other students. The building includes an indoor basketball court, among many other ridiculous amenities.
