Morehead State head coach Sean Woods has resigned, the school announced at a Thursday press conference

Woods had been suspended with pay from the program since November 22nd. Earlier this week, news broke that Woods is facing an assault charge stemming from an incident where he allegedly assaulted a player during a game in Evansville, Ind.

On Wednesday, the parent of one of the players that was allegedly assaulted released a statement that said Woods had headbutted his son last season.

Assistant coach Preston Spradlin has been the interim coach since Woods’ suspension.

Woods was previously suspended by Morehead State in 2012 after he publicly berated a player and appeared to make contact with him in a game against Kentucky.
