Kentucky adds five-star Class of 2017 point guard Quade Green

Kentucky gave itself another talented lead guard to end the fall signing period as five-star point guard Quade Green publicly revealed on Saturday that he signed with the Wildcats.

After a slow start to November in which head coach John Calipari didn’t have a single commitment, Kentucky reeled in four commitments in the last several weeks -- three of them being five-star prospects.

The 6-foot-0 Green is regarded as the No. 23 overall prospect in the national Class of 2017, according to Rivals, as he’s one of the best true point guards in the nation. Green averaged a Nike EYBL-leading 10.5 assists per game this spring, which is a ridiculous number for a high school point guard.

Green is a nice commitment for Kentucky because he’s unselfish and wants to get others involved. On a team roster which is typically filled with McDonald’s All-Americans who are looking for shots, Green will be happy to get others involved as a primary distributor. He’s also not a likely one-and-done candidate, so Green should stay for at least a few seasons to help stabilize the Wildcats’ point guard spot.

Kentucky is also targeting five-star center Mohamed Bamba and Green was Bamba’s point guard this spring and summer on the PSA Cardinals. That certainly won’t hurt the Wildcats’ pitch to Bamba in recruiting.

The addition of Green gives Kentucky another major chance to end up with the No. 1 or No. 2 recruiting class in the Class of 2017 as he joins five-star center Nick Richards, five-star power forward P.J. Washington and four-star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
