Kansas lands five-star Class of 2017 prospect Billy Preston

Kansas landed an important five-star commitment on Friday as forward Billy Preston committed to the Jayhawks.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Preston is one of the most talented players in the Class of 2017 as he gives Kansas a potential replacement on the interior for Landen Lucas and if sophomore Carlton Bragg opts to leave school early. A skilled perimeter threat who can also put it on the floor, Preston has the talent to be one of the top prospects in his class, but his effort has to improve in order for him to be considered a truly elite prospect.

Regarded as the No. 8 overall national prospect in the Class of 2017, Preston joins four-star guard Marcus Garrett as they form a solid start to the Kansas recruiting efforts in 2017. Preston is attending Oak Hill Academy during his senior year as that program should help him prepare for the rigors of the Big 12.
