Any list of the nation’s best dunkers has to include Iowa State guard Deonte Burton. That’s just a requirement.

The 6-foot-4 senior further justified that statement during Hilton Magic, Iowa State’s midnight madness event, on Friday night when he repeated as the team’s slam dunk champion. He defeated teammates Nick Weiler-Babb, Ray Kasongo and Merrill Holden.

For the second year in a row Burton broke out a 360 dunk during the event. However, this year’s slam was less impressive, considering he pulled off the same feat in boots -- no seriously, boots -- in 2015.

Burton, the Marquette transfer, averaged 9.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in his first season with the Cyclones. He is expected to play a key role this season, anchoring a strong backcourt that includes Big 12 preseason Player of the Year Monte Morris, Naz Mitrou-Long and Matt Thomas.
