Trevon Duval cuts UCLA from list

2015 NBPA Top 100 Camp

Despite the flurry of commitments that happened on Labor Day, the biggest recruiting news of the long weekend happened late on Sunday night.

Trevon Duval, the top point guard in the Class of 2017, trimmed his list to nine. In a vacuum, that’s not all that big of a deal, except that the school Duval cut was UCLA, who many considered to be the frontrunner to land his services.

And not only did he cut UCLA, but the photoshopped graphic that he posted to announce the news included a big red X through UCLA’s logo:

Savage.

It will be interesting to see where Duval’s recruitment heads now, as most will probably predict Maryland as the school he lands at.

But it is worth noting that UCLA not only has two young, five-star point guards on their roster right now -- Aaron Holiday and Lonzo Ball, who is expected to be a one-and-done -- but that they also have Jaylen Hands coming into the program next season as well.
