The 2K Sports Classic is one of the many preseason exempt events that happens around the country in November and December.

It’s a two-night, four-team tournament that is held in Madison Square Garden, which is one of the best arenas in the country to host a neutral site college basketball game, especially when the teams can draw a crowd that will fill the gym.

And that’s exactly what should happen for the 2017 event. According to a report from CBS Sports, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Washington and Providence will be featured. Indiana has one of the biggest fan bases in the country. They always travel. Providence will be in a bit of a rebuilding mode, but the school’s basketball fans are borderline insane and will make the trip to NYC for the games. Virginia Tech is more of a football school, but Buzz Williams is on the verge of really getting things rolling in Blacksburg.

And, perhaps most importantly, Washington and potential top five pick Michael Porter Jr. will be in the gym.

It will be a fun event, and more importantly, it should be good hoops in a good atmosphere.

This season’s 2K Sports Classic features Michigan, Marquette, Pitt and SMU.
