Syracuse to honor Pearl Washington against Georgetown

Syracuse announced this week that they will be honoring Big East legend Pearl Washington when they reignite one of the Big East’s legendary rivalries with Georgetown on Dec. 17th.

Washington passed away in April following a long battle with a brain tumor. One of the Big East’s original ‘Point Gods’, Pearl was a legend in his hometown of New York City before helping usher Syracuse into an era of relevance in the Big East.

The tribute will manifest in a number of ways, but perhaps the most relevant: A ’31’, Pearl’s number, will be put on the floor approximately where he hit his most famous shot from:
