Florida Gulf Coast is taking a foreign trip to the Bahamas beginning tomorrow as they hope to get some experience before practice begins in the fall.
But the Eagles will be without a few key pieces for the trip, which means they’ll have to adjust and give some minutes to newer players. According to a report from Dana Caldwell of the Naples Daily News, big man Antravious Simmons will be out four-to-six weeks due to a back injury that includes some spasms.
Also potentially missing the trip for Florida Gulf Coast will be third leading scorer, sophomore point guard Zach Johnson and second-leading scorer, junior shooting guard Christian Terrell. Johnson is battling a foot injury that has kept him out of practices while Terrell has also been bothered by a foot injury that has limited his practice time.
Without two top returning scorers and an experienced big man, the Eagles will get a lot of reps with younger players during this trip and that could give those guys some valuable reps before the season starts.
