BYU lands top 150 Class of 2017 point guard Christian PoPoola Jr.

BYU kept up some momentum on the recruiting trail on Wednesday night as they grabbed a commitment from Class of 2017 point guard Christian PoPoola Jr.

The 6-foot-2 lefty guard is athletic and can make plays with the ball in his hands as Rivals rates PoPoola as the No. 143 overall prospect in the Class of 2017.

One day after landing a Class of 2016 commitment from shooting guard Colby Leifson, the Cougars added another talented perimeter option to its future.

PoPoola attends basketball powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and he’s a good start to BYU’s Class of 2017 recruiting efforts. BYU landing top 150 prospects is important for them maintaining in the WCC as they try to keep pace with programs like Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s at the top of that league.
