Gary Trent Jr., a top ten prospect in the Class of 2017, announced on Tuesday that he has a top five.
Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona and UCLA are the schools that made his list.
Trent is a tantalizing prospect. At 6-foot-5, he has the strength that his father — former NBA player Gary Trent, also known as Shaq of the MAC — had, but he’s a perimeter oriented player, arguably the best back court scoring guard in the class. He’s got three point range and can get buckets off the bounce, but he’s also capable of taking smaller and weaker defenders into the post.
His athleticism limits what his upside can be, but there’s not doubt that he should be one of the better scorers in his league regardless of where he ends up playing his college ball.
