TCU and new head coach Jamie Dixon needed to make sure they kept Texas kids at home if they were going to become a factor in the Big 12. Dixon and the Horned Frogs made a statement on Thursday as four-star Class of 2017 guard R.J. Nembhard committed.

Regarded as the No. 66 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, Nembhard is the kind of recruit that Dixon needs to land in order to turn it around at TCU. The Horned Frogs might not compete for the five-star kids very often, but the state of Texas is producing a ton of top-100 kids every year and Nembhard is the type of player Dixon must clean up on.

A 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Keller, Texas, Nembhard played with Houston Hoops in the Nike EYBL this spring and averaged 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 16 contests.

Nembhard joins three-star forward Kouat Noi in the Class of 2017 for TCU.
