SMU is losing a key big man recruit in the Class of 2016 as Ted Kapita and the school have parted ways, a source confirmed to NBCSports.com.

The 6-foot-8 Kapita is regarded as a four-star prospect as he was previously committed to Arkansas as a member of the Class of 2015 before not getting a high enough test score to enroll. It was rumored that Kapita had signed with the AmeriLeague -- the American professional basketball league that never materialized -- but he denies ever formally signing anything of a professional nature.

Kapita went back to DME Academy in Florida and joined the Class of 2016 as he committed to SMU back in February. Now, according to multiple reports, Kapita is taking a visit to N.C. State as the Wolfpack could look to add another late piece to its roster for next season.
