Kentucky player arrested for public intoxication

Kentucky forward Derek Willis was arrested on Saturday for public intoxication, according to the Boone County Jail.

Willis was released on $50 bond, according to the jail’s website. No further information regarding the arrest was available.

As a junior last season, Willis finally broke through into Kentucky’s rotation, averaging 7.7 points and 4.0 boards while shooting 44.2 percent from three. He started 11 games and is going to be counted on to play a major role on this year’s Kentucky team.

According to an arrest report obtained by the Louisville Courier-Journal, Willis was found by police officers passed out in the street outside the open driver’s side door of a vehicle.

Willis turns 21 on June 21st.
