North Carolina releases loaded non-conference schedule

North Carolina announced their non-conference schedule this week, and it’s loaded.

Their opener -- get this -- is on the road, as they will head down to New Orleans to play Tulane. After hosting one of the nation’s best mid-major programs in Chattanooga and Long Beach State, the Heels head out to Hawaii. They’ll play a road game against the Rainbows before partaking in the Maui Invitational, a field that includes Oregon, a top five team, and Wisconsin, a top 15 team, as well as the likes of UConn and Georgetown.

After a visit to Indiana for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, UNC’s next marquee matchup will be against Kentucky in Las Vegas for the CBS Sports Classic. Throw in games against Davidson, Tennessee, Northern Iowa and Monmouth, and Roy Williams certainly gave his dudes a challenge before the rigors of ACC play begin.

This may not be the best non-conference schedule in the country, but you won’t see many high-major programs put together something this good.
