Nicholls State landed an impact transfer on Saturday as Roddy Peters signed with the Colonels, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-3 Peters started his college career at Maryland before transferring to South Florida. A former four-star recruit, Peters played in 10 games for the Bulls this past season before fracturing his foot in December and missing the rest of the season. Peters was dismissed from South Florida in March after violating school policy.

Last season for South Florida, Peters averaged 9.8 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 14 percent from the three-point line.

Although he’s struggled to stay on the floor at Maryland and South Florida, Peters has the kind of talent to be a difference maker for Nicholls State if he’s healthy and focused. Peters will need to limit turnovers and still work on his perimeter jumper, but not many former four-star prospects join the Southland Conference.
