Georgetown landed a commitment from Rodney Pryor over the weekend, a graduate transfer from Robert Morris that is heading into his sixth season of college basketball.
“Proud to say I am a Georgetown Hoya,” Pryor tweeted out on Sunday night.
Listen to this road he’s travelled: After graduating high school, he enrolled at Kirkwood Community College before transferring to Cloud Community College. At Cloud, he broke his foot one year and tore his ACL the next, sitting out both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Pryor eventually transferred to Robert Morris, where he averaged 15.4 points as a sophomore and 18.2 points as a junior.
He’s a 6-foot-5 power wing that shot better than 43 percent from three as a sophomore, but as a junior, when he became the No. 1 offensive weapon for Bobby Mo, his efficiency went way down.
Pryor will add depth and, in theory, perimeter shooting to a Hoya back court that needed it with the graduation of D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera. Prior to Pryor -- and JuCo transfer Jonathan Mulmore -- committing, the Hoyas were looking at heading into the season with juniors Tre Campbell and L.J. Peak, sophomore Kaleb Johnson and freshman Jagan Mosely as the only guards on their roster.
