Eric Reveno will not return to Portland as head coach, sources told NBCSports.com.

Reveno has been the head coach of the Pilot program for the last ten years. He reached the CIT four times and twice finished third in the WCC, but he hasn’t finish above .500 in league play since 2011.

Reveno played his college ball at Stanford and was an assistant on that staff for years before taking over at Portland.

ESPN.com was the first to report the news.

He’s the third WCC coach to lose his job this month. San Francisco and Rex Walters parted ways, while Santa Clara gave Kerry Keating the axe as well. Pacific lost head coach Ron Verlin, who stepped down mid-season. That means six of the 11 head coaches in the WCC have changed in the last three seasons. It’s been more than a decade since a coach has gotten a better job from a school in the WCC, and the reason for that is the top of the conference.

Gonzaga is a high-major program. BYU basically is as well, and while Saint Mary’s is, at it’s core, still a mid-major, it plays at a high-major level. In other words, the best that a coach at one of the other four schools in the league is going to be able to do is finish fourth.

That’s a tough spot to be in.
