UConn clinched a NCAA tournament bid by winning the American Athletic Conference tournament with a 72-58 win over Memphis on Sunday. The Huskies (24-10) figured things out over the last several days as they defeated Cincinnati, Temple and UConn to win the title in Orlando.

With five scorers in double figures, UConn was led by 13 points each from Sterling Gibbs and Shonn Miller while Daniel Hamilton and Rodney Purvis both had 12 points.

Memphis (19-15) gave its best run in the second half, closing the lead to four, but they were never able to get over the hump as they won’t make the NCAA tournament. Now the question becomes the future of head coach Josh Pastner and trying to build around Dedric Lawson for next season.
