Right before No. 12 Miami was scheduled to host No. 11 Louisville on Saturday, the Hurricanes announced that sixth man Ja’Quan Newton was suspended for three games for violating team rules.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore is one of the best players off the bench in the country and he’s averaging 10.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in just over 22 minutes per contest.

Without Newton, Miami still has plenty of depth, but their second unit has been able to rely on Newton for quick points many times this season. Without him, they’ll have to see how that lineup’s offense looks before the ACC tournament and now winning the ACC regular season crown becomes that much more difficult.
