Grayson Allen was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons again today following another tripping incident that involved Florida State guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes.
“He wanted to keep playing physical, so I tried to walk away from it as he was grabbing me,” Allen said. “We ended up tangling up and falling.”
“It was really nothing.”
Not according to the ACC, who publicly reprimanded Allen for the incident. And Allen wasn’t the only guy that got hit with a reprimand on Friday, as Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar was admonished by the Pac-12 because he publicly disagreed with a blown call late in UW’s loss at Oregon State, a loss that could keep his team out of the NCAA tournament.
Public reprimands don’t mean all that much -- it’s like getting off with a warning when you’re pulled over for speeding -- but it’s interesting, given the difference in these two situations, that both Allen and Romar got the same punishment.
