Saturday afternoon featured an important Conference USA contest between UAB and Marshall as it pitted the top two teams in the league against each other.

Trailing 79-78 with seven seconds left, Marshall had the ball with a chance to take the lead as junior Ryan Taylor attacked the basket on a drive. Taylor was hacked across the left wrist by UAB junior big man Tosin Mehinti and lost control of the ball out of bounds. Since Taylor touched the ball after losing control -- after the missed foul call -- officials gave possession to UAB and the Blazers knocked down two free throws to secure a controversial 81-78 road win.
