No. 22 Baylor blew a late six point lead at Texas Tech, but the Bears avoided getting upset thanks to Lester Medford.

Much has been made of the fact that Medford is the x-factor on this Baylor team. Without a true point guard on the roster, Medford has been asked to take over the role, and while the natural scorer has had some hiccups in the process, he’s been better than many expected in the role.

Entering Saturday’s game at Texas Tech, Medford was averaging 8.0 assists in Baylor’s 3-1 start to Big 12 play, turning the ball over just eight times in those four games. And while he wasn’t at his best in that department on Saturday -- five assists to four turnovers -- Medford’s shooting saved the day.

He buried this three at the buzzer to knock off the Red Raiders:

The win moves Baylor to 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12, which will be tied for first in the conference assuming Oklahoma is able to hold serve against West Virginia at home on Saturday.
