PREGAME SHOOTAROUND: Slow day with a couple of renewed rivalries

GAME OF THE DAY: Missouri at No. 13 Arizona, 8:00 p.m.

After Saturday’s fireworks, we get a slow Sunday in the college hoops realm which means that I’ll be free to over-obsess about whether or not I’m going to advance in my fantasy football league playoffs. (Gronk, for the love of all that is holy, be healthy and awesome today!)

Anyway, the best game of the day will probably happen after RedZone goes off the air as Missouri will make the trek out to Tucson to face a beat-up Arizona team. The Wildcats should be able to win this handily, but Sunday evening games seem to mess with the internal clocks of college kids that are used to playing on Saturdays.

FOUR THINGS TO WATCH FOR

  1. Syracuse at St. John’s, 12:00 p.m.: The Orange pay a visit to Madison Square Garden to take on their old Big East rivals in what is technically a road game, but everyone knows MSG is the second home for Syracuse.
  2. Rhode Island at Nebraska, 2:00 p.m.: Both teams really, really need this win if they’re going to have a real chance at earning an at-large berth.
  3. La Salle at No. 9 Villanova, 5:00 p.m.: Big 5 hoops action! Villanova will be looking to make a bit of a statement after what happened to them out in Hawaii.
  4. LSU at Houston, 6:00 p.m.: The Cougars are actually pretty good this season, sitting pretty at 6-1 on the year. LSU has the nation’s best player in Ben Simmons ... but they also have three losses on the year, including a blow out loss at Charleston.

THE REST OF THE TOP 25

Arkansas-Pine Bluff at No. 4 Iowa State, 6:00 p.m.
Louisiana-Monroe at No. 14 West Virginia, 4:00 p.m.
