Pacific announced that it has suspended head coach Ron Verlin and assistant coach Dwight Young as an NCAA investigation involving allegations of academic misconduct is ongoing.
“This action is commensurate with what the investigation has revealed so far,” said Pacific Athletics Director Ted Leland in the release. “I know how hard this is on our student-athletes, their parents, our Athletics staff and our fans and supporters, but we must hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior, and fully comply with all NCAA regulations.”
Mike Burns, an assistant coach at Pacific, will serve as interim head coach while Verlin is suspended. The length of the suspension has yet to be determined.
Pacific started an investigation on Oct. 8 with the NCAA about potential academic misconduct.
