After spending two and a half years out of coaching, Mike Rice will finally be making his return to the sideline.

The former Rutgers head coach will become the interim head coach at the Patrick School, a basketball powerhouse in Elizabeth, N.J., that was formerly known as St. Patrick’s. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Kyrie Irving are among the school’s notable alumni.

Rice was fired by Rutgers in April of 2013 following the release of a video showing him verbally and physically abusing his players. The video showed him, among other things, throwing basketballs at the student-athletes that he was tasked with coaching and using gay slurs during practice.

According to a press release from the Patrick School, Rice “has attended an extensive anger management program” and a workshop in Chicago designed to help him learn about “LGBT issues that high school students face”.
