VIDEO: Did Kansas State’s Justin Edwards get away with a game-winning goaltend?

Kansas State’s win at Georgia on Friday ended in a bit of controversy.

Up 68-66 with 4.1 seconds left, Georgia point guard J.J. Frazier went the length of the court and fired up a desperation three that bounced off the front of the rim. But on replay, it looks like Kansas State forward Justin Edwards comes awful close to either touching the ball and/or the rim.

That would have been a walk-off goaltend.

Referees are not allowed to review goaltending calls, which is why the refs took off as soon as the shot was missed in this game. But looking at the replay ... man, I can’t tell. If anything, it looks like his wrist hitting the rim saved Edwards from actually knocking that shot away, which would have been called.

You tell me:

Technically, there’s a chance that should have been a goaltend. But A) no referee in the world ever actually blows his whistle there given the time left on the clock, and B) I’m not sure any contact actually changed the trajectory of the shot. The win probably would have been on a technicality.

But still: Justin, bro, what are you doing?
