The game between Pitt and No. 9 Gonzaga has been called at the half due to dangerous conditions on the floor.

The game is being played at a military base in Okinawa, and between the humidity in the building and the condensation that built up with the players on the floor, the court became dangerously slippery. Pitt’s James Robinson suffered a pretty nasty cut on his cheek when he fell midway through the first half:

It only got worse as the game went on:

“The way the court was, we just couldn’t finish it,” Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. “It was about who didn’t fall down, that’s what the game was coming down to. Whoever didn’t fall was probably going to make a play. We tried and the officials called it. I don’t know what else to do.”

Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said it was still a once-in-a-lifetime experience in more than one way.

“It was tough, coming this far. But we came for the experience, we came for the Marines and we’re certain we accomplished that goal,” Dixon said. “We came for a win, too, and I guess we got half a win.”

The score at halftime was 37-35 Pitt, who looked every bit the part of an NCAA tournament team through 20 minutes. Kyle Wiltjer had 15 points for the Zags.
