Viral video star Seventh Woods commits to North Carolina

Seventh Woods provided the first major surprised of college basketball’s national signing day as he announced a commitment to North Carolina on Wednesday morning.

Woods, a South Carolina native, picked the Tar Heels over the favored Gamecocks.

Woods is No. 35 player in the Class of 2016, but he’s a guy that’s long been talked about in recruiting circles. It started during his freshman season when the mixtape that you see above was published. A sensational athlete, Woods was ranked among the Class of 2016’s elite. He even had his name thrust into headlines comparing him to LeBron.

Needless to say, that’s a totally unfair characterization of a 6-foot combo-guard that’s trying to develop himself into a full-time point guard.

At this point in his development, Woods is probably better on the defensive side of the ball than anything. He’s obviously a terrific athlete, and that also helps him as a driver. The rest of his game -- his passing, his shooting -- is a work in progress, but he’s continued to improve as he’s matriculated through the high school ranks.

Woods is the third commitment in the class for UNC, joining fellow four star recruits Tony Bradley, a center, and Brandon Robinson, a shooting guard.
