Michigan freshman forward Moritz “Moe” Wagner will be one of the most intriguing newcomers to track this season because of his relative lack of experience against American competition. The 6-foot-10 German came to America to play his college basketball after a stint playing with a Euroleague junior team for Alba Berlin, a German professional basketball club.
While Wagner needs to adapt to the American style of play, he’s also tremendously skilled, as he possesses the perimeter skills in a big man that head coach John Beilein covets.
MLive’s Brendan F. Quinn, one of the better college hoops beat writers in the country, does a tremendous job on this profile of Wagner and there’s a lot of amusing anecdotes in here as we learn about the new Wolverines freshman. There’s also a rather candid exchange regarding what was going through Wagner’s mind when he decided to come to America for college.
