UCLA sophomore forward Gyorgy Goloman was hoping to be a bigger part of the Bruin rotation this season after receiving spot minutes as a freshman. The 6-foot-11 forward will have to miss some action this season, however, as UCLA head coach Steve Alford told CBSSports.com’s Jon Rothstein on Friday that Goloman was still 4-to-6 weeks away from returning to action after a stress fracture in his leg.

Goloman initially sustained the injury in mid-October and the injury looks like it will keep him out of most of UCLA’s non-conference slate.

A native of Hungary, Goloman appeared in 35 games last season and saw 10.8 minutes of action per contest. Goloman averaged 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 50 percent (6-for-12) from 3-point range.

Without Goloman in the lineup, the Bruins still return senior forward Tony Parker and sophomore center Thomas Welsh, while sophomore Jonah Bolden, freshman Alex Olesinski and junior college transfer Ikenna Okwarabizie join the roster as well to add more depth in the front court.
