Three-star guard commits to Louisville despite sex scandal

It’s been an eventful day for the Louisville Cardinals, but Rick Pitino’s program received some positive news on Tuesday with the commitment of three-star Class of 2016 guard Frankie Hughes.

A native of Ohio, the 6-foot-3 Hughes pledged to the Cardinals during a press conference at Garfield Heights High School. Louisville came into the recruiting process late for Hughes, but they got him on campus and won his commitment over Missouri, St. Joseph’s and Wisconsin.

Hughes becomes the second commitment for Louisville in the Class of 2016, joining five-star wing VJ King.

With his ability to play a bit of both guard spots along with his strong perimeter shooting, Hughes has a chance to be a productive role player at Louisville. While the timing of Hughes’ commitment might seem a little odd given Louisville’s sex scandal being all over the news today, you can’t question his commitment to the program if he’s coming aboard on a day like today.
