Throwback Thursday: Lamar Odom wins the A-10 tourney

By now, we all know about the tragic turn that Lamar Odom’s life took this week, as he was found unconscious in a brothel near Las Vegas.

This morning, I watched Scott Van Pelt’s ‘One Big Thing’ on Odom, which was perfect as usual. Van Pelt blasted the pop culture tabloids and reality TV shows that helped drive Odom to this point.

“I understand not everyone watches sports, but ‘Kardashian reality star’?” Van Pelt said. “His name is Lamar Odom, and we knew it long before he got married on a reality show that we don’t watch.”

That’s perfect.

And in that vein, I figured I’d share the first moment where I realized who Odom was. I was 13 years old at the time, and Odom was a freshman at Rhode Island that had been forced to sit out the previous season due to NCAA issues and a run-in with the police at UNLV.

It was the Atlantic 10 title game. And Odom did this:
