North Carolina gets four-star 2016 guard

North Carolina picked up a scoring guard who was very good during the July live evaluation period as four-star shooting guard Brandon Robinson pledged to the Tar Heels on Monday. The 6-foot-5 Robinson committed to North Carolina during a press conference at Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County and becomes the Tar Heels’ second commitment in the Class of 2016.

Regarded as the No. 76 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, Robinson was a starter on a very good Georgia Stars team that won the Nike Peach Jam in July. In 24 games with the Stars this spring and summer, Robinson averaged 7.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. After leaving the Stars for Team Loaded North Carolina at the end of July, Robinson had some good scoring outings and averaged 11.6 points per game the final week of the live period. The Tar Heels were able to land Robinson over his other finalists of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Louisville.

By adding Robinson, North Carolina is getting additional size and scoring pop on the wing and Robinson can either ease the loss of Justin Jackson if he goes to the NBA, or become an additional rotation player who can create offense. Robinson is joined by four-star big man Tony Bradley in the Tar Heels’ 2016 class.
