Indiana’s James Blackmon Jr. is healthy and eligibile to return to practice this fall, recovering from surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee back in July.

“He’s fully cleared,” head coach Tom Crean told CBSSports.com.

Blackmon was an important piece for the Hoosiers last season, averaging 15.7 points and 5.3 boards as a key cog in Indiana’s open-floor, fast-paced offense attack. He shot 38.7 percent from three as a freshman.

The sophomore also considered entering the NBA Draft back in April, but he opted to return to school as he was far from a lock to be drafted in the first round. His return, along with the return of point guard Yogi Ferrell and the addition of freshman center Thomas Bryant, is a major reason the Hoosiers are considered a top 15 team entering the 2015-16 season.
