Duke adds four-star 2016 forward Javin DeLaurier

Duke entered the picture late for four-star forward Javin DeLaurier, but the Blue Devils closed strong and landed the Virginia native on Sunday.

The 6-foot-8 DeLaurier broke out as a national recruit this summer thanks to his high motor, ability to rebound and developing skill level. The Blue Devils offered DeLaurier a scholarship in early September and now own the No. 41 overall prospect in the Class of 2016. DeLaurier joins five-star wing Jayson Tatum and five-star guard Frank Jackson in Duke’s current Class of 2016.

DeLaurier represents a good commitment for the Blue Devils because he can play along with other current recruiting targets like five-star forward Harry Giles and five-star center Marques Bolden.

Playing with Team Loaded Virginia this spring and summer in the adidas Gauntlet, DeLaurier averaged 13.1 points, 8.1 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field. DeLaurier continued to improve his play throughout the spring and summer and he’s athletic enough to be an impact player in the ACC.
