Texas native and five-star 2016 center Jarrett Allen is down to eight schools, he announced on Twitter. The list for the skilled 6-foot-10 center is peppered with both local programs and national blue-blood programs.

Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Texas are the eight schools in the running for the No. 20 overall prospect in the Class of 2016.

A skilled center with low post moves and good length, Allen averaged 20.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 59 percent from the field this spring and summer with Texas Pro in the adidas Gauntlet. The recruiting race for Allen is sure to get heated, as he’s one of the premier big men in the class and the type of player who can provide immediate minutes on the block.
