Mississippi State announced that freshman center Aric Holman will have knee surgery this week. The micro fracture surgery will help repair a patellofemoral disorder in Holman’s knee and he could miss his freshman season.

Head coach Ben Howland signed Holman late this spring and hoped the talented 6-foot-10 freshman could provide minutes alongside Gavin Ware or Fallou Ndoye, but now that may not be the case.

The injury bug continues to hit the Bulldogs this year as Michael Bonner of the Clarion-Ledger notes that five members of the roster have had surgery this year. Guard Craig Sword had back surgery this spring, wing Travis Daniels had surgery for a sports hernia and Ndoye had wrist surgery. Guard Xavian Stapleton also tore his ACL and will miss this season.
