Cameron Satterwhite has re-opened his recruitment after decommitting from Colorado late this week, he announced on Twitter. The 6-foot-4 three-star prospect tore his ACL playing in the Las Vegas Classic during the July live evaluation period this summer and now Satterwhite is re-evaluating where things stand in his basketball future.

In a report from Josh Gershon of Scout.com, Satterwhite’s AAU coach, John Ortega, said that Colorado wanted Satterwhite to reclassify and do an additional year of high school to make sure that his knee was fully recovered. Satterwhite felt like he could rehab during his senior year of high school and be prepared for college basketball by the 2016-17 season as originally planned.

“Cam didn’t want to do that,” Ortega said to Gershon of reclassifying to 2017. “Talking to Cam and his family, they didn’t want to figure out what to do for a year as a post grad or something else. Even if it means he has to go to a lower conference.”

Seeing how ACL injuries now take less than a year to heal in many cases, I can certainly understand why Satterwhite would want to open things up and see which schools are interested in him for next season. The native of Arizona is an elite-level leaper and he helped Gilbert Christian to a Division II state championship during his junior season. A similar ACL injury happened with Arizona incoming freshman Ray Smith Jr. during the July

Colorado still owns a Class of 2016 commitment from Michigan native and three-star guard Deleon Brown.
