Indiana graduate transfer forward Max Bielfeldt might be the new guy on the roster, but the Michigan transfer felt bad enough about the recent off-the-court issues for the Hoosiers to personally write a letter and send it to former Indiana guard A.J. Guyton.

Bielfeldt and Guyton both hail from Peoria, Illinois with Max attending Guyton’s basketball camps as a youngster. In the letter, Bielfeldt mentions attending those camps and he also told Guyton that he wants to be one of the leaders that helps make alumni like Guyton proud of the Indiana basketball program.

It would have meant one thing for Bielfeldt to apologize if he had been at Indiana during the last few years when many of the off-the-court incidents had occurred, but it shows some solid leadership for him to step up and represent his current team like he did here. Bielfeldt averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in a reserve role for Michigan last season. The 6-foot-8 forward could be a nice piece off the bench for Indiana this season, who could use his size and experience inside this season.
