Norte Dame has landed their second commitment in the Class of 2016 as three-star recruit John Mooney pledged to the Irish on Monday morning, a source confirmed to NBCSports.com.

A 6-foot-9 forward from Lake Brantley, Florida, Mooney was originally committed to the Gators before backing off from that decision earlier this summer. He took a visit to Notre Dame this weekend with his parents, where he decided to commit to the Irish.

Mooney joins Temple Gibbs, a four-star guard from New York City and the younger brother of Ashton and Sterling, in Notre Dame’s 2016 recruiting class.

ESPN.com earlier reported that Mooney was expected to commit to the Irish.
