Ohio native Xavier Simpson was one of the best point guards during the month of July and according to a report from Scout.com, the four-star Class of 2016 lead guard will announce his decision on Wednesday.

The timing of Simpson’s announcement carries some weight because he’s taken three official visits already and he’s canceling a trip to Miami that was scheduled for this weekend. The 5-foot-11 native of Lima, Ohio has taken recent visits to Iowa State (8/7), Illinois (8/28) and Wisconsin (9/4), so it would appear that those three programs are in the best shape entering Wednesday’s decision.

This spring and summer, in 21 games with King James in the Nike EYBL, Simpson averaged 15.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Simpson shot 46 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent from the free-throw line in EYBL play.

Simpson is regarded as the No. 87 overall prospect in the Rivals150 in the Class of 2016.
