Friday morning two of college basketball’s most notable programs announced that they’ve agreed to a three-year series that will begin in 2016.

Indiana and Louisville will play each other in three consecutive seasons, with the first meeting coming on a neutral court and each team getting to host a game in the two years to follow (they’ll begin a three-year football series in 2023). The game during the 2016-17 season will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on New Year’s Eve, with Louisville hosting the meeting during the 2017-18 season and Indiana doing so during the 2018-19 campaign.

Indiana and Louisville met at the Jimmy V Classic in New York last season, with the Cardinals winning to trim the Hoosiers’ edge in the all-time series to 10-7. There were reports of the two schools having discussions regarding a possible series in February.
